In Eagle Rock, a small neighborhood in Los Angeles, Amy Woodruff, who is of Chocktaw and Cherokee descent, has chosen to live life in a teepee. Amy was raised on a family farm in California and lived in New York for a few years, but she has no regrets about giving up the fast pace of that city to enjoy a tranquil life in her outdoor home.

Kent Katich, the owner of All Sport Yoga, has been incorporating yoga into his coaching of professional athletes for the past 15 years. And now he has taken his work and experience of training NBA teams, golfers, and baseball players, and incorporated it into his DVD Yoga Hoops. This DVD provides players with a comprehensive “core conditioning workout” that utilizes yoga to stretch and lengthen muscles for better balance and strength. In addition, it teaches them how to use yoga to sharpen their mental focus and concentration.

What would happen in your yoga business if you focused your marketing efforts on one specific goal for 21 days in a row?
Yoga professionals have a whole series of tasks related to running a yoga business. Our day can be a constant movement from one unrelated task to another. At the end of the day, it’s easy to feel exhausted and frustrated as we realize that yet another day has gone by without our being able to take action on that big dream or even a simple wish.

Yoga students at the Focus Yoga studio in Brookfield, Illinois, are enjoying a nurturing environment of yoga and meditation with the repeated sound of gongs resonating in their ears. This unusual and imaginative way of practicing yoga is known as a “gong bath.”

Recently, just before sunset in the fields of Sullivan Farm, New Milford, Connecticut, mothers and daughters gathered to enjoy a yoga class together. During the yoga class, the pairs worked together, engaging in stretches, breathing exercises, and yoga poses.

Do you know where your senior friends or relatives are this morning? Well, if you happen to live in the community of Brockport, NY, they may just be hanging out with Nancy Burhyte at the Burhyte Ballet School – except they won’t be learning how to do ballet poses, such as the first position or an arabesque, but will rather be in a yoga forward bend or child’s pose.

The Second International Kriya Yoga Congress will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, from August 28-30 this year. Kriya, which means “action”, is an ancient yoga practice that accelerates spiritual development, cultivates an enlightended state of tranquility, and engenders an affinity with God. Whether participants are experienced in kriya yoga or are new to the practice, this event promises to be “an opportunity to learn the philosophical principles and practices of kriya yoga.”
